How It Works (USA)

Moto2 Imports is the premier custom importer of foreign motorcycles, specializing in Japanese sport bikes. We've been in business since 2016 and have imported 100s of amazing bikes for our customers. We provide everything including custom searches, purchase & bike collection, crating, shipping, US Customs & EPA/DOT clearances, and door to door delivery. Upon arrival, we can also provide full mechanical services via our partner shop Speedwerks. All bikes are legally imported in full compliance with US federal vehicle import laws.

   Search our live BDS auctions right here on our site to find bikes that match what you're looking for. Prefer we do the legwork? Just tell us what you're interested in — color scheme, mileage, max budget, etc. — and we're happy to run a custom search for you. 2. 02

   We source primarily through the BDS auctions, where 90%+ of Japan's motorcycle sales take place and the selection and wholesale pricing are best. We can also buy from Yahoo Auctions (private sellers and dealers) and Goobike (strictly dealerships), though these are smaller channels — send us a link for an import quote. Once a bike is identified, we'll send full photos, video, and pricing, and we're happy to talk through any questions.

3. 03

   When a suitable bike is identified, we handle the entire purchase and have it legally imported to the US. Most bikes sell at auction through BDS — you tell us the maximum you're willing to bid and we bid on your behalf. Some listings (typically Yahoo Auctions or Goobike dealer bikes) carry a fixed price instead, in which case we simply quote you a fixed price to import it.

4. 04

   We require a 50% deposit prior to purchase/bidding, with the balance due within 10 business days of purchase. Deposits are refundable if we can't purchase the bike for any reason, or if we get outbid at auction.

5. 05

   All bikes are delivered to our US partner shop in Milford, Delaware, where they can be picked up in person or shipped door to door. We can also provide any and all mechanical or cosmetic services at our shop prior to final delivery.

How It Works (Global)

Moto2 Imports can purchase and ship motorcycles to major ports worldwide for our international customers. Import rules, vehicle age requirements, and registration processes vary significantly by country. Below is a general overview of the process and eligibility frameworks for several major markets.

4. 04

   We require a 50% deposit prior to purchase/bidding, with the balance due within 10 business days of purchase. Deposits are refundable if we can't purchase the bike for any reason, or if we get outbid at auction.

5. 05

   We ship your bike to a port in your country. From there, you (or your customs broker) are responsible for clearing customs and completing local registration — we do not handle customs clearance or registration outside the US. Please note: Moto2 Imports ships to a port in your country. From that point, you (the buyer) are responsible for engaging a licensed customs broker in your country to clear the vehicle through customs and complete any local registration — and for all associated customs duties, taxes, and fees. We're happy to help however we can, but we don't manage the customs/registration process on the ground outside the US.

General Eligibility Framework by Country

Note: in addition to the eligibility requirements below, local import duties, tariffs, and/or VAT may apply in each country. Rates vary and are not listed here except for the UK — consult a licensed customs broker in your country for current figures.

• Great Britain 10 years

  Motorcycles over 10 years old are generally exempt from UK type approval (MSVA), which substantially simplifies the registration process. Younger imports typically require Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval before they can be registered with the DVLA.

• Canada 15 years

  Motorcycles manufactured 15 or more years ago are exempt from Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Act import restrictions at the federal level. Provincial inspection and registration requirements still apply after import.

• Italy 20 years

  Motorcycles at least 20 years old, in original/well-preserved condition, may qualify for Italy's FMI historic-registration system (Registro Storico), which explicitly supports foreign-imported motorcycles.

• Australia 25 years

  Motorcycles 25 years or older can generally use Australia's concessional older-vehicle import pathway. Motorcycles younger than 25 years may still be importable through a separate compliance pathway, though the process is more involved. State/territory registration is a separate step after federal approval.

• Spain 30 years

  Motorcycles at least 30 years old, in substantially original condition, may qualify for Spain's historic-vehicle registration route — including motorcycles that have never previously been registered in Spain. Note: Spanish historic-vehicle registration limits annual road use to 96 days per year.

• France 30 years

  Motorcycles at least 30 years old, of a model no longer in production and without significant modification, may qualify for France's “véhicule de collection” registration pathway.

• Portugal more than 30 years

  Portugal has a dedicated legal framework for registering historic motorcycles over 30 years old. We recommend confirming eligibility with Portuguese authorities before shipment, as the process can vary.

• Netherlands first registered before January 1, 2006

  Motorcycles first registered before this fixed date can use a simpler standard inspection pathway with the RDW, rather than the more involved individual approval process required for newer imports.
